
Ways to participate:
Athlete: To be eligible to participate in Special Olympics Montana, you must be at least 8 years old and identified by an agency or professional as having one of the following conditions: intellectual disabilities, cognitive delays as measured by formal assessment, or significant learning or vocational problems due to cognitive delay that require or have required specially designed instruction.
NOTE: Persons with functional limitations based solely on a physical, behavioral, emotional, specific learning disability or sensory disability are not eligible.
Unified Partner: Special Olympics Unified Sports® brings together athletes with and without intellectual disabilities- people of similar age and athletic ability – who train and compete on the same teams.

The following items must be completed prior to 1st Day of Practice:
- Athlete/Unified Partner/Volunteer Paperwork: Contact Joey Hancock at 570-4170 or email joey.hancock@bsd7.org to receive proper paperwork required by Special Olympics
- Only needs completed once every 3 years
- Covid Code of Conduct must be completed by everyone
- Event Registration Form: Complete online registration form on team website hancocksheroes.weebly.com

Fall
Basketball-This year due to Covid we will not be holding in person practices and Athletes will compete at home according to SOMT Compete From Home Skills events and options and submit results/scores to Coach Joey
8/24 - Opening Ceremony (Facebook Live)
9/25 - Registration and all paperwork due
9/28 - Compete from home practice and competition begins
10/23 - Final scores due to Coach Joey
11/5 - Closing Ceremony (Facebook Live)
Winter
Bowling-January-February
Training and Competition at the Bozeman Bowl on Fridays from 2:00-4:00 on the following dates:

If unable to attend in person, there is a compete from home option as well

Important Information
- Detailed information regarding practice times, locations, registration forms, special events, etc are located on our team website: hancocksheroes.weebly.com
- Each sport has a minimum number of practices students are required by Special Olympics to meet in order to be eligible for competition.
- All athletes, unified partners, coaches and volunteers are encouraged to help participate in various fundraising opportunities if able
Late registration can only be granted by the Local Program Coordinator and only in situations where circumstances are beyond a family's control.
Note: All athletic uniforms or equipment need to be turned in prior to being allowed to sign up for the next sports season
