Superintendent

It is my privilege and honor to serve as Superintendent of Bozeman Public Schools. In my previous roles in the district (site administrator, deputy superintendent) my leadership style has been one of listening, learning, partnering and serving. I have twenty-one years of Montana public school experience as a teacher and administrator.

Bozeman is a community very supportive of high quality public education. We are very appreciative of the partnership with our community and take seriously the responsibility to provide a safe and high-quality learning experience for all students.

We are very excited for the 2023-2024 school year. With a global pandemic in the rearview mirror we are actively working toward District goals and priorities as we move forward in the areas of early literacy, grade level reading, social emotional learning, and closing known opportunity gaps by providing equitable opportunities for student success. The foundation of the work we do for students is the braiding together of multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and Professional Learning Communities (PLC). MTSS + PLC = Learning For All!

Long Range Strategic Plan (LRSP)

Bozeman School District uses a Long-Range Strategic Plan (LRSP) to guide and focus the District. The LRSP process was launched in the fall of 2007 to bring more rigor to the process of setting goals; to ensure the wants, preferences, and needs of the community are well understood; and to strategically focus District resources. Bozeman Public Schools’ Board, staff, and leadership team view the process of strategic planning as an ongoing process within Bozeman Public Schools. The LRSP is not a "strategic planning project" that was completed, but rather is a living document that continually evolves as the needs of the District change. The LRSP has undergone significant revisions via a community consensus process about every 5-6 years. The District anticipates launching the LRSP revision process during the 2023-2024 school year. Long Range Collaboration Plan (Consensus)

Bozeman Public Schools launched a new strategic planning process in the fall of 2007 to bring more rigor to the process of setting goals; to ensure the wants, preferences, and needs of our community are well understood; and to strategically focus our resources. The result was the Long Range Strategic Plan (LRSP).

As part of LRSP Strategic Objective 3.03 and during the March 1-5, 2021 negotiation session it was concluded among the group that it may be beneficial to memorialize the Consensus Process in our district and to develop a document to use as a foundation of process into the future to assist future participants in understanding the process and the great success it can establish.

LRSP Strategic Objective 3.03 reads, “Use the Consensus Process to develop effective dialogue around matters of importance to the school district and our community. Short Title: Consensus Process.

The Long Range Collaboration Plan, or a Long Range Consensus Plan (LRCP), is intended to begin the process of documenting the consensus process in a way that will guide the district in the future in using the process on a consistent basis. One of the intents is to use the consensus process as frequently as needed to address impending issues and resolving them with the involvement of all necessary stakeholders.

It is not the intent to use the consensus process on every issue arising in the district but to identify those issues that may benefit significantly from using the process. It is also the intent of the District, including Trustees, Administrators, Teachers, and Staff to use a collaborative process in addressing issues within the district.

2023-2024 Annual Report To the Community

2023-2024 Five Year Plan

Bozeman Public Schools' Five Year Plan focuses the efforts of Trustees, staff, and administration on specific and measurable District Goals. The 2023-2024 Five Year Plan includes four goals:

Early Literacy Goal: By 2025, 85% of all children entering Kindergarten will have requisite literacy skills as measured by Acadience.
Grade Level Reading Goal: By 2025, 90% of all BSD7 3rd Grade Students will demonstrate grade-level reading skills by achieving a proficient score on the Acadience reading assessment at the end of the school year.
PLC Goal: By spring of 2025 all BSD7 schools PK-12 will have fully implemented PLC’s in place that will support the closing of the achievement gap, thus qualifying BSD7 as a Solution Tree Model PLC District.
Graduation Goal: By 2025, 95% of BSD7 students in each graduation cohort will earn a regular high school diploma in four years or fewer.
