Before-School Wildcats Program News

The “Early Birds” Program is the before-school enrichment program that is held here at Whittier from 7:30am – 8:00am every school day. Registered students can arrive at the Whittier Library after 7:30am to participate in various fun activities and crafts until we all go to breakfast at 8:00am. Students not eating breakfast will go out to the playground for recess until 8:30 when the school day begins. The “Jungle Door” of the Library  will be unlocked for the morning program only between 7:30 and 8:00am.

Registration Required!

Any Whittier student who arrives at school before 8:00am must be registered in the “EARLY BIRDS” program. If your child/children only come early to school once in a while, they still need to be listed as program participants. By following these guidelines, this United Way KidsLINK sponsored program is made possible for the Whittier students.  Please contact the office if a registration form is needed.

Drawing Lessons

The “Early Birds” Wildcat program is lucky to have a professional artist on Fridays this year. Mr. Jason Williams, a professional artist and Whittier parent, has been giving drawing lessons to the Wildcats every Friday morning between 7:30 and 8:00am. Jason has been teaching drawing technique with topics such as dinosaurs, transformers, and spiderman. Thank you to Mr. Williams for volunteering his time and talent! Come join us on Friday mornings for some fun drawing.

Holiday Craft Projects

The month of December will be a busy time for the Wildcats in the Before School program. We will be decorating holiday cards, making “shrinky dink” ornaments, and creating other holiday crafts. As always, Wednesday will continue to be “Game Day” and Fridays will be drawing lessons.  Happy Holidays!

Homework Help

Students who need homework help to complete their assignments for the day can get help in the before-school program. Staff are available to help students complete homework that is not finished from the night before. As there is not a lot of time in the morning to work on homework, please start on your assignments the night before. Students can let any staff member know assistance is needed during the morning program. We want you to be ready for the school day!
