Hawthorne Frequently Asked Questions
Hawthorne is a Model School for the Arts. What does that mean?
Hawthorne School was designated as Montana's Model School for the Arts by the Montana Arts Council in 1991. The staff at Hawthorne is dedicated to its mission to provide a model for an integrated curriculum with arts at the core. Hawthorne School uses the same district-approved curriculum as other elementary schools in the school district. However, Hawthorne teachers enhance student learning by weaving the arts into each of the curricular areas. Our Parent Council sponsors the annual Celebration of the Arts in the spring of each year. Money raised at this community event is re-invested in art supplies and artist residencies for our students the next year.

Each child who has hot lunch, breakfast, or snack milk has an account set up. Parents may send money to school to be put in this account.
