Background on the Future High Schools Project:
In June 2016, the BSD7 Board of Trustees gave approval to proceed with the planning process for a second high school in addition to the planning process for renovation of the existing high school.

In May 2017, Bozeman School District voters approved a bond request for $125M to pay for the construction of a second high school and renovation to the existing high school.   HERE is a link to the planning work that was used in our bond request in the spring of 2017.

Construction on the second high school (on the corner of Oak and Cottonwood Roads) began in March 2018.

The new high school will be completed and open in the Fall of 2020.  There are many important decisions to be made in preparation of the opening of the new school.  The Board of Trustees have established several committees to help with recommendations:

High School Naming Process:
The Board and the Transition committee were engaged in the naming process from January - March 2019.  After extensive process, the Board selected the name Gallatin High School at the Board meeting on March 25, 2019.  If you would like to know more about the naming process, please click HERE.

Gallatin HS Mascot & Color selection process:
The Board and the transition committee were involved in a process to select the mascot and colors for Gallatin HS from March - May 2019.  Suggestions from the community were collected and there were several rounds of community polling conducted before the final selections.  The mascot for Gallatin HS will be the Raptors and the colors will be black and royal blue.  For more information about this process, please click HERE.

High School Programming:
High School Programming Committee will make recommendations on the academic program, school schedule and graduation requirements.
As part of the Long Range Strategic Plan report, the Board will discussed recommendations from committee work at the August 13 Board meeting.
HERE is a summary of the work and recommendations from the High School Programming Committee.

High School Transition Committee
The Board established a community committee to work on grade level split, boundaries and school culture decisions.  Recommendations regarding boundaries were presented to the Board at the Jan. 28, 2019 Board meeting.  The Board approved Option D.  View the High School Boundary Map Here

Design Work:  BHS Renovation
Starting in the Fall 2018, the Board engaged a committee to begin the work of designing the renovation at Bozeman High School.  The majority of the renovation will take place after the new school is completed.
The Board will have a final review of the BHS renovation designs at the January 28th Board meeting.
