Professional Development Welcome
Welcome to the Professional Development program for the Bozeman Public Schools. A Professional Development Committee made up of teachers and administrators guides professional development in the District as it relates to our Long Range Strategic Plan. The Committee is also responsible for establishing a communication link among Bozeman Public Schools and monitoring and adjusting programs in accordance with District Policy and school needs. The Committee is co-chaired by the Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction and the Bozeman Education Association President.
The purpose of the Bozeman Public Schools’ Professional Development Program is to increase student learning by improving teaching through professional development. This is an ongoing process that determines and addresses what educators’ need to know and be able to do to ensure that students perform to the best of their abilities.
All educators and staff members in the Bozeman Public Schools model techniques of effective instruction and seek to improve through active participation in professional development programs. Educators know that teaching is a process of making and implementing decisions, before, during, and after instruction, which, when implemented, increase learning opportunities. Learning is process of constructing meaning from a variety of experiences and activities, facilitated by appropriate educational practices. Because we believe that all students can learn and achieve at high levels, it is our expectation that Bozeman Public School staff members:
- inquire, analyze and reflect.
- are models of educated citizens.
- improve continuously.
- model risk taking, innovation and creativity.
- are leaders and decision-makers in their school community.
