Federal Programs

Title 1 Program

Welcome to the Bozeman School District #7 Title I program. As Curriculum Director and Grants Coordinator, Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is one of several federal grants that my office supports with guidance form the district Long Range Strategic Plan. Title I funds are available to qualifying schools identified as high-poverty to ensure that poor and minority children have the same opportunity as other children to meet challenging State academic standards. These extra resources help support underachieving youth in a variety of areas including academic achievement in reading and math and school improvement through professional development and parent outreach. Both the Office of Public Instruction and Ed.gov website have more information. You may visit them at the following locations: http://www.opi.mt.gov/TitleI/index.html or http://www.ed.gov/policy/elsec/leg/esea02/pg1.html

If you are interested in finding out whether your child qualifies for services, please contact your child’s teacher, building principal, or the Curriculum Office staff at (406) 522-6027. Thank you for your support of children in Bozeman Schools.

Title VII program

Welcome to the Bozeman School District #7 Title VII program. As Curriculum Director and Grants Coordinator, Title VII is one of several federal grants that my office supports with guidance form the district Long Range Strategic Plan. Title VII of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act is designed to support the efforts of school districts, Indian tribes and organizations, colleges, and other entities to meet the unique academic needs of American Indians and Alaska Natives so that these students can achieve to the same challenging state standards as all students. The Bozeman Title VII parent committee reviews the district’s goals annually in order to ensure that the needs of local students are being met. The grant provides tutoring services to qualifying students in the core academic areas with a focus on reading and mathematics. Title VII tutors are available at each of the district’s schools.

If you are interested in determining whether your child meets the criteria for participation in Title VII, please download the form 506, Student Eligibility Form (Tribal Certification) from our webpage and send to the Curriculum Office for review. If you would like to become involved in supporting Indian student achievement, please contact us at (406) 522-6027. In addition, there are a wealth of resources available from Ed.gov – select the following link for student, parent, teacher and administrator resources: http://www.ed.gov/about/offices/list/oese/oie/index.html.

Thank you for your interest in supporting the education of all students in Bozeman Schools.

Warm regards,
