PLATO General Information
Bozeman School District has been awarded a $550,060 grant to purchase PLATO Curriculum and Orion Standards and Curriculum Integrator. PLATO Learning offers K-12 Curriculum, the Focus Reading and Language Program, adult education and access to ASCD Online Professional Development Courses.
Our initial implementation in 2004/05 will provide reading and mathematics curriculum and standards alignment for the district’s special education students. The program will also be used to provide enrichment to students in the gifted program. We will expand implementation to other subject areas and programs to reach all students in the district during the 2005/06 school year.
Training and implementation resources along with further information about the program will be coming soon. Please stay tuned for details.
What Is PLATO?
PLATO instructional materials provide each student with an individualized self-paced learning experience tied to state and local standards. A variety of multi-level tools gauge strengths and weaknesses and identify resources, both offline and web-based, to help maximize each studentís chance of success. The curriculum extends from foundational skills taught in real world contexts through preparation of high school students for graduation. Thousands of hours of proven, problem-solving courses are age and instructionally appropriate for children and adolescents.
PLATO accountability management solutions help educators meet the requirements of accountability legislation, Title 1, special education, and more. They facilitate data-driven decision-making and continuous school improvement planning, using a powerful correlation engine that aligns state and local standards with instructional resources. Diagnostic assessments correlated to standards help educators remediate or accelerate with person academic assistance plans.
PLATO test preparation's extensive library of low and high stakes test simulation allows educators to reassess students regularly and intervenes as needed without waiting to see how students perform on standardized tests. Simulations identify skill gaps so that students can work on PLATO Instructional Solutions standards-based curriculum to remediate skills.
