Traffic Education

Welcome to the Traffic Education Program!

The Spring Session application period is now closed. No other applications will be accepted. The next available application period will be for Summer A Session.

Spring Session: March 25 - April 30 (no class on April 3 (PIR day) and April 27 (MTEA Conference)
Class times are Monday - Friday, 4 - 6 p.m. The (6) 2-hour drive times can be 6 - 8 a.m., 6 - 8 p.m., PIR days and Saturdays. Schedules are made by the instructor and will be available the first few days of class.
Acceptance and Wait Lists Posted: Friday, Feb. 14, on the glass doors outside the BHS Main Office and outside the Adult Ed Office in the Willson Building, Room 227. Classes are filled with the oldest students first. It is not first come first served. The wait list can be lengthy so only the oldest 30 people on the wait list are posted. If your student does not make it into the session, you must reapply for subsequent sessions. Placement in the session is based on date of birth which we verify. The cut-off age for each session varies as it depends on the applicant pool. We are and have been actively seeking new instructors.
Letter of Acceptance: If your student is accepted, you will receive an email acceptance letter on Friday, Feb. 14. Wait list students do not receive notification.
Payment Period: Feb. 18 - 26
Payment Deadline: Wed., Feb. 26, 5:00 p.m.
Fee: $315
Wait List Students: Calls will be made as spots become available. If called on or before Feb. 26 by 12:00 p.m., be prepared to pay by the 5:00 p.m. deadline. If called on Feb. 26 after 12:00 p.m., be prepared to pay by 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 27.
We will call the phone numbers listed on the application. If I am unable to leave a message due to a mailbox that has not been set up or is full, I will immediately move on to the next wait list person.

Before Applying: View the Online Application Instructions link (to the left of this page) as applications filled out incorrectly will be denied. The application must be submitted by the parent or legal guardian - not the student!
After Applying
: A submission confirmation email titled "Automated Email Response" will be sent to the email address that was entered into the Parent/Guardian #1 field on the application and will be sent from notification@sharpschool.com.

Application Process: There are 5 traffic ed sessions per year: Fall, Winter, Spring, Summer A and Summer B. Each session has its own online-only application period. If your child does not make it into the session, you must reapply for any subsequent sessions. It may take several attempts to be accepted into a session as there are typically more applicants than there are spots. Placement is determined by date of birth.
Check the Traffic Ed Program Information & Schedules link to the left of this page for dates. Traffic Ed is not a requirement in Montana. Once a child is 16, the licensing process can be started at the Driver License Station.
