Bike/Walk to School Day 10/5/11
|
The Fall International Walk to School Day is coming up, Wednesday, October 5th. Join other students, parents, teachers, and our principal, as we walk and bike to school. There will be two starting points for walkers and bus riders (the Bozeman Public Library and Beall Park) and a route for bikers from Bridger Creek Golf Course. There will be a small celebration and prizes at school upon arrival. With over 85% participation last spring, we hope all students will join us so we can raise the bar to encourage 100% student participation this year. Walking and biking to school promotes healthier habits, cleaner air and safer routes for getting us there. If you are interested in volunteering for this fun event, please contact Mr. Cech at ryan.cech@bsd7.org or 522-6704.

Love & Logic Tip from our Parent Liason
|
If you hear, "It's too hard. I can't do it," smile, pat them on the back and ask: Aren't you glad that I don't believe that? This question represents an exceptionally powerful way of communicating to your children that they have what it takes to succeed. Delivered in question format, its effectiveness becomes supercharged. Remember: Questions create thinking. Statements create resistance.

Hawthorne library will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair. We will be open on Friday, Sept. 30th through Thursday, Oct. 6st. The book fair will be open before and after school, and over the noon hour. Each class will preview the books and take home a “wish list” of books they like and the price. Please stop in and look over the books available. If you would like to volunteer before or after school, please call Judy Stokes at 522-6719.

Welcome to the PAC Corner… our little corner of the monthly newsletter where we provide you all the PAC news fit to print in 200 words or less. We campaigned for more space, but hey, we’ll take what we can get. We are off to a rip roaring start this year… an opening day ice cream social on the playground under sunny skies launched us into the new school year and was a great way to welcome everyone back to Hawthorne. Our September PAC meeting was extremely well attended with over 30 parents and staff. Thanks to all who joined us, and we hope to see many more of you at our next meeting on October 13th. The first week of October will be a busy one. Look out for OCTOBER 5! This is a big day…. Walk/Bike to School to be followed immediately by our FIT 4 LIFE RUN-A-THON, PAC’s newest fundraiser. We’ve put a lot of effort into this one, and we’re counting on lots of pledges to make it a hit. October 6 is Hawthorne’s Open House. Come visit us in the gym if you have any PAC-related questions. We’ll have a short presentation starting at 5:45 to introduce our PAC to new and curious parents. Also during October, the Green Team will be hosting its annual Montana Harvest Fundraiser and your child’s Square One Art will be coming home later in the month. Happy fall and thanks for your interest. Drew Seessel, drew@seesselinvestments.com
